Spravato in Aberdeen, South Dakota

A Powerful Tool for Treatment-Resistant Depression

Spravato in Aberdeen, South Dakota

If you’ve struggled with depression and tried two or more antidepressants in your current episode without adequate relief, talk to your healthcare provider to see if you have treatment-resistant depression. If you do, it’s time to discover Spravato®, the first FDA-approved nasal spray specifically for adults with treatment-resistant depression.

What to Expect

Today’s most commonly used oral antidepressants are thought to treat depression by increasing levels of neurotransmitters (serotonin, norepinephrine and dopamine) in areas of the brain that affect mood.

Spravato® works differently than other medications for treatment-resistant depression by targeting the N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor in your brain.

You and your psychiatric care provider must complete a Patient Enrollment Form for you to receive Spravato® in a certified treatment center.

Patients can expect to take Spravato® twice a week for the first month. During the second month, you’ll take it once a week. After that, you’ll take it once a week or once every two weeks. You should continue to take your oral antidepressant as prescribed unless otherwise discussed with your psychiatric care provider.
