Dermaplaning is a highly efficient and safe physical exfoliation procedure used to clear away dry, dead, and superficial skin layers. It is a gentle skin resurfacing treatment utilizing a special surgical blade to remove the outermost layer of dead skin manually. This treatment also removes the fine vellus hair—known as peach fuzz—from the face. This hair often causes a buildup of dirt and oils in the follicles, so removing the hair gives the patient healthier-looking skin.

We pre-cleanse the skin with the appropriate cleanser for the patient’s skin type to remove lingering makeup and debris. This also helps hydrate skin, reduce irritation, and provide necessary nutrient absorption for lasting results.
Your Conklin Clinics provider will use an exfoliating blade to remove peach fuzz and dead skin cells. They will move across your entire face, working on one area at a time, stopping just below the jawline. The final treatment area is the nose, which your provider will treat expertly and gently. During this process, you will feel a light scraping on your skin from the blade—this sensation is from the blade shaving off the peach fuzz, dead skin cells, and dirt.
Following your treatment, your provider will moisturize your face and apply a toner, ensuring your skin has thoroughly absorbed both for maximum results. Once the treatment is over, your provider will go over all necessary post-treatment care, like mitigating sun exposure and regular moisturization.

The Dermaplaning procedure is pain-free and relaxing. You will feel a slight scraping along your skin is excess debris, skin, and hair a gently scraped away, but it will never be painful. Some of our patients find this so relaxing that they take a nap.
Dermaplaing is appropriate for all skin types; especially effective on dry or rough skin texture and helps to minimize superficial acne scarring or uneven skin tone. This treatment is beneficial for mature skin, which tends to experience a build-up of dead cells as cellular turnover slows down with age. Safe for pregnant or lactating clients.
Patients can expect dermaplaning results to last for 3-4 weeks before fading. This is because the procedure clears away 3 weeks’ worth of dead skin cells when performed.
